Corrosion & pressure-test planning

Decision checklists only. Final test pressure and acceptance criteria come from the governing code edition and project procedure.

Corrosion allowance is not a silent tubing derating

  • Use the specified tube wall and the published rating of the complete tube/fitting assembly.
  • Do not silently subtract a pipe-style corrosion allowance from a manufacturer-published tubing rating.
  • Where corrosion or erosion is credible, define material selection, minimum remaining wall, inspection method and interval.
  • Final acceptance must follow the governing code, project specification and component manufacturer.

Hydrostatic test checklist

  • Confirm the governing code edition, project test specification and test boundary.
  • Check the lowest-rated permanent and temporary component at the test temperature.
  • Verify test-fluid compatibility, cleanliness, trapped-gas removal, drainage, drying and disposal.
  • Use calibrated pressure instruments, defined hold/examination criteria and a signed test record.

Pneumatic test checklist

  • Use pneumatic testing only when justified and permitted by the governing code/project procedure.
  • Assess stored energy; establish exclusion zones, remote pressurization and staged pressure increases.
  • Confirm gas compatibility, leak-detection method and safe depressurization/vent routing.
